Tackling Academy School

Background of the Tackling Academy
The Tackling Academy is a unique, one of a kind football experience, combining
a coaching clinic with an athletes’ camp. It is designed to teach the most current
and safest way to tackle. The techniques taught at The Tackling Academy have
been implemented in the UFL, NFL, College and High School levels. Thurmond
Moore is the founder, CEO and head coach at The Tackling Academy. Coach
Moore has been a UFL, NFL and Division 1 College coach.

Why the Tackling Academy?
The Tackling Academy is designed to enhance the tacking skills, techniques,
and fundamentals for both the coach and athlete while increasing the knowledge
of tackling through non-contact drills. The intent of the Academy to teach proper
body positioning, footwork and tackling techniques that will help reduce concussions
and prevent neck injuries. The Tackling Academy lays a foundation that
allows athletes to improve their tackling techniques in different game time situations.

How the Tackling Schools Works
Players who enroll in the tackling school will attend ten 45 minutes sessions,
once a week for 10 weeks that will train, educate and prepare them to implement
the learned skills of “safe and effective tackling”. The players training program
is comprised of video demonstrations as well as hands on participation.
The main purpose of the tackling school is to make sure that the players are utilizing
the latest and safest tackling technique.

Tackling Academy school are held during the pre-season in order to help the
players gear up for the football season. The safe tackling techniques learned
can drastically reduce injuries and missed tackles during the season.
The Tackling Academy takes pride in offering these main ideas at every school:
1. Instruction by top high school coaches
2. Emphasizes all the elements of tackling
3. Emphasis on how to tackle effectively and safety
4. Instruction on how to tackle without pads.
5. Will decrease the amount of neck injuries
6. Will decrease the amount of missed tackles

What League Presidents and Coaches are saying about The Tackling Academy?

“The Tackling Academy offered our Pop Warner players a phenomenal experience. This
Tackling Camp incorporates the techniques and tools that each player will utilize
throughout their athletic careers. I am not aware of another camp that provides the level
of expertise, training and value. It is my hope that every Pop Warner program takes the opportunity to participate in this camp."  President - Ron Ford, Yorba Linda Pop Warner

"Your clinic at UBC was a real eye opener. I have been teaching tackling using some on
the same techniques and terminology for 8 years but your teaching pulled the complete tackling technique together in an easy to teach package." Carmine Sorace

This was probably the best tackling training I have attended and believe it going to help
out tremendously with reducing concussions. Coach Moore did an outstanding job.
